The Foundation called the National Research Center “Development of Gene Therapy and Drugs with RNA Technology” carries out research in areas of strategic importance for the country for the production of therapies or the design of procedures for human health, integrating the development of therapies with their targeted administration (precision delivery). Its objective is the creation and renewal of research infrastructures and laboratories, the creation and development of research programs and activities to encourage the birth and growth of entrepreneurial initiatives with a higher technological content (innovative start-ups and spin-offs from research) and aimed at valorising the results of research in the specified areas.
The Foundation, of which the University of Padua is the proponent and leader, involves 49 subjects including universities, public research bodies, private bodies and businesses and focuses its activities on areas of high innovative value such as gene therapy applied to the treatment of cancer or hereditary diseases and RNA-based technologies, integrating advanced biocomputing skills and intelligent nanomaterials. In the strategic areas in which it has expertise, the Center has the ambition and ability to become an excellence and point of reference for Europe to make our country competitive in the development of cutting-edge drugs.
